Student Testimonials
Student Resources
July 2006
To: Bernadette Melnyk

"I feel that the leadership and faculty in the program are the best in the country. Their excitement to teach is evident and the personalized attention I have received from the faculty has been incredible. They really listen to the students and value our input. The fact that you are visible and approachable is profound. In fact, the Nursing program went above and beyond by financially supporting my airfare and conference fees to the National Conference of Neuroscience Nurses where I presented my paper on Delirium in San Diego, CA earlier this year. I believe that ASU’s Nursing Program would very easily receive Magnet recognition if there was such an award because all the critical elements are apparent for a student to not only learn, but truly enjoy learning. (I am enjoying it so much that I am considering my doctorate degree). ASU’s Nursing Program is beyond doubt the place to dream, discover and deliver!"

Bunny,

"I just wanted to let everyone at ASU know that I passed my boards here in California. I took them about a week ago and it was definitely very stressful, however, I am very relieved. I have just begun orientation at UCSF and am loving it. I think I told you before but I am on the Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant and Hematology floor. In other words, I still have a lot to learn but am very ready to do so. ASU was a wonderful choice when it came to my nursing education, and I am very thankful for my time spent there. Take care."

Dear Sue,

"I have placed you on my tapestry of influence assignment for Political Action. Throughout my career as an RN and LVN, I have often been influenced by my professors and instructors. I haven't been in a nursing program for 10 years and the focus of BSN is so different than ADN. I have learned so much through this program, and I wanted to thank you for causing me to examine my professional responsibilities and place in the community through volunteer work. You have helped me to realize that nursing does not stop when you leave your job, but transcends your whole life. Thank you."

"I just want to say THANK YOU!!! for all of your kind and encouraging words. You inspire me to be a leader. Because of you and your class, I discovered a renewed confidence in my abilities as a professional nurse and a leader. I enjoy your class immensely and look forward to your stories of inspiration every week. Creating my tapestry of concepts and values has been a very moving and meaningful experience in my journey towards advanced education. You are so right! the tapestry helped me remember who I really am inside and helped me remember the people who made me realize my potential. I like who I have become, the professional nurse and the person that I have become. I wanted to tell you this last week but I was so emotional. I am telling you this now because I know tomorrow we will have a busy day and I don't want to forget. Now I love my profession more than ever. Thank you!"

Sincerely,

"I just wanted to write a quick note and thank you for all of your help during the RN-BSN program! I am so grateful for your patience in teaching us all about APA and making it as interesting as possible, which was a hard task! I would not have been able to make it through this program without the support from each of my instructors and I thank you for that. It means a lot to us that you want to see us succeed! I hope to see you next week at convocation! Thank you again for your dedication to our education! You were a wonderful example and an inspiration!"

Sincerely,

"I am writing you in my excitement as I have now completed my final course in the RN-BSN program!! I wanted to thank you so much for your passion and your example throughout the community rotation and course. You opened my eyes to a new way of thinking and a new way of looking at my patients. I truly feel that my biggest area of growth came through my clinical experiences and I appreciate your willingness to find valuable opportunities for us to learn. THANK YOU! I also wanted to thank you for your patience with each of us and with our class. I know we all learned a lot from one another, and I will never forget this experience. I am so grateful for your commitment to the RN-BSN program and for your help in our success! It feels great to be done!! Thank you again for your hand in this. I hope to see you next week at convocation! I will probably float across the stage!"

Sincerely,

"I just wanted to say a special thank you for all that you have done to make this a very special, rewarding year for me!  Every instructor was amazing, not only as teachers but also as people.  I think I have shared with you before how supportive they all were every step of the way. I was excited to hear that there are "talks" about ASU's Master's program.  This has been such an amazing experience for me that if there [is] anyway to continue with ASU, I will.  Yesterday's ceremonials put the icing on the cake.  It was so meaningful (and I thought the lighting of the lamp was meaningful too) that it brought tears to my eyes.  Keep up the good work and thank you for recognizing each and every one of us for "making a difference." You are an outstanding teacher, advisor, mentor and person.  I am so lucky to have met you and hope that you will be part of my life in my future at ASU!"
