Highly Motivated students
Our innovative PhD program will prepare you to pursue a career as a leader in health policy, nursing education, and research. Emphasis is on the generation and application of research and theory in clinical practice.
Nurses who Respond to Society's Changing Needs
Our PhD program has three practicums: teaching, leadership, and research. In the practicum, the student focuses on clinical problem solving through integrating multiple perspectives.
Your coursework will prepare you as a scholar with the inquiry skills of a researcher and with the clinical and leadership skills necessary to influence health processes, outcomes, and ultimately, policy.
Leaders in Nursing & Healthcare Innovation
You can assume leadership positions in practice, education and research with the goal of optimizing quality of life and health resources across populations and settings.
Nurses who Create Their Future
Expect to be heavily recruited nationwide. PhD graduates hold faculty positions in nursing schools nationwide, and executive administration and clinical positions in corporate hospital systems, clinics, and other healthcare organizations, including their own businesses.
In 2003, 614 faculty vacancies were reported in more than 300 nursing
schools across the United States, according to the American Association
of Colleges of Nursing. Of these vacancies, about 60 percent required
a doctorate.
