PhD - Diversity
Student Resources

ASU has approximately 12,000 graduate students of which 15-percent represent Hispanic, American Indian, African American, and Asian American students. In the past decade, there has been an 84-percent increase in the number of minority students at ASU. In addition, almost 14-percent of the graduate degrees conferred in 2003 went to our African American, American Indian, Asian American, and Hispanic students. The Graduate College is strongly committed to supporting proactive recruitment, retention, and graduation efforts for minority students. We work to provide, in concert with academic programs, the types of student support and professional development opportunities that will help ensure the success of our talented and committed graduate students.

The Graduate College's commitment to diversity in graduate education was highlighted in the October 24, 2005 issue of The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education Magazine, in which Vice Provost and Dean Maria T. Allison and former Associate Dean Marjorie S. Zatz collaborated on an editorial entitled "Hispanic Students and the
Pathway to Graduate Education
