The College of Nursing & Health Innovation Graduate Education and Advanced Practice Programs includes the following degree programs:

Graduate Nursing Degrees:
  • Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program is focused on improving healthcare through facilitating a culture of best practice, and providing the additional skills necessary to develop advance practice nursing leaders for the future. Advanced practice preparation is available in a variety of nurse practitioner roles including Adult NP, Pediatric NP, Neonatal NP, Women’s Health NP, Family NP, Psychiatric Mental Health NP, and Child/Family Psychiatric Mental Health NP. Emphasis is placed on preparing advanced practice evidence-based mentors to assume faculty positions and positions in leadership. Three entry pathways are available for this new degree.
  • Master of Healthcare Innovation (MHI) program is designed to be a one year masters degree program using a hybrid online format open to nursing and non-nursing students working and living at a distance. MHI offers a futuristic, multidisciplinary, educational approach to the development of healthcare leaders who base decisions upon the best evidence available. Students accepted into this program will learn new processes to develop innovative, immediate solutions to existing or potential healthcare problems in both traditional and non-traditional healthcare organizations.
  • Master of Public Health - The College of Nursing and Health Innovation has partnered with the School of Health Management and Policy within the W. P. Carey School of Business to offer a Masters in Public Health degree with a specialization in urban community and mental health. Dr. Joan Dodgson, is the Associate Director for this program.
  • Master of Science, (MS) prepares nurses for more independent roles as community leaders and educators. MS Degrees are available for Clinical Research Management, Nurse Educator and Community Health.
  • PhD in Nursing & Health Innovation (PhD) is designed for those who wish to pursue careers as leaders in health policy, nursing education and research. This degree helps address a state and national need for faculty members who are increasingly in short supply (differences between DNP and PhD). Two entry pathways are available for this degree: BS-PhD and a MS-PhD.

Master of Science, Human Nutrition

The Master of Science in Human Nutrition program at the College of Nursing and Health Innovation is based on the scientific foundations of nutrition, but also prepares students with strong writing skills, computer literacy, interpretive expertise, problem-solving skills and research experiences. The MS degree requires the completion of a minimum of 30 semester hours and a thesis.

Master of Science, Human Nutrition - Dietetics Concentration

The Master of Science in Human Nutrition, Dietetics Concentration at the College of Nursing and Health Innovation is a non-thesis option for registered dietitians (RDs) seeking to continue their education, advance their skills as practitioners, and achieve their career goals.  The MS in nutrition, dietetics concentration, requires students to complete 30 credits, including six credits of an applied project that focuses on the practice and science of dietetics.

Interdisciplinary PhD Program in Physical Activity, Nutrition and Wellness

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Physical Activity, Nutrition and Wellness (PANW) is an interdisciplinary program that integrates graduate courses from several academic units to provide a sound foundation for research leading to a dissertation. The program focuses on issues that contribute to health through the reduction of disease risk, quality of life promotion, and enhancement of well being. While many healthy lifestyles are studied, the emphasis is on physically active living and sound nutrition.

Master of Science (MS) - The Exercise and Wellness Program at Arizona State University is committed to preparing outstanding scholars and professionals in the areas of health promotion and physical activity as well as fitness and conditioning. The Exercise and Wellness Program offers the only Master of Science degree program in Arizona specifically designed to prepare students for such careers. The Master's Degree Program in Exercise and Wellness offers unique opportunities for those interested in becoming scholarly professionals and contributors to public health through the delivery of effective exercise and wellness programs to all segments of society.
