associate dean for research

As Associate Dean for Research at the College of Nursing & Healthcare Innovation, Dr. Fleury oversees the Office for Research and Scholarship, which supports all aspects of the development, conduct, and dissemination of research within the college.  Dr. Fleury also directs the PhD in Nursing & Healthcare Innovation Program at the college. 

Julie Fleury
kim arcoleo, phd, mph

Dr. Arcoleo's research interests are in maternal and child health with a focus on nurse home visiting services for first-time mothers, childhood asthma, and unintentional injuries among children. Expertise in research survey design, development and implementation of data entry and management systems, and statistical analyses of the data. Dr. Arcoleo is experienced in regression analyses (parametric and non-parametric techniques), Monte Carlo simulations, and structural equation modeling.

Kim Arcoleo
Edward A. Greenberg, PhD
Statistician
director, data lab

Dr. Greenberg provides statistical methods assistance to College of Nursing faculty in their preparation of grant applications and, conducts and advises on the analysis of faculty research data. Dr. Greenberg mentors nursing graduate students, in arrangement with faculty advisors, in statistical methods related to their research. He has a PhD in psychology from Arizona State University, where he specialized in social psychology and quantitative methods. Before joining the College of Nursing, he was employed as a research associate in the ASU Survey Research Laboratory and as a consultant and manager in the ASU Information Technology department.

Edward Greenberg
Mary Z. Mays, PhD
Biostatistician
co-director, data lab

Dr. Mays advises faculty and students on research design, experimental methods, bioethics, data management, statistical analysis, and scientific writing. She has a PhD in experimental psychology from the University of Oklahoma, with a specialization in learning/memory and quantitative methods.  She has broad experience in basic and applied behavioral and biomedical research both as an investigator and as a biostatistician.

Mary Mays
Michael Belyea, PhD

Dr. Belyea has been a statistician and co-investigator on numerous federally funded research projects, participating in the formation of the project, preparation of the proposal, management of the science, analysis of the data and writing articles and presentations. He has also taught courses on regression, the analysis of experimental designs, longitudinal methods and analysis, and structural equation modeling. He has a doctorate in Sociology from North Carolina State University and a biostatistics post-doc from the University of North Carolina. Before joining the College of Nursing, he taught doctoral statistical courses and consulted in the Research Support Center at the School of Nursing at University of North Carolina.

 
Nancy Moore, PhD
Grants Manuscript Editor
Director, Dissemination core

Dr. Moore is the grant writing resource specialist for the college. She supports faculty who are preparing grant proposals and applications, by editing, proofreading, researching, brainstorming, and advising on an approach to application questions. She also helps faculty with manuscripts they are preparing for submission as journal articles, books, abstracts, or conference presentations. She received her PhD in Greek and Roman art and archaeology from Princeton University. She has been an editor and writer for 25 years and was a grant writer for a K–12 educational consulting firm in Scottsdale before coming to the college.

Grants coordinator

Bethany Johannessen collaborates with research faculty to organize, prepare and submit research grant applications in compliance with funding agency and ASU guidelines. She reviews program announcements, conducts web and library research, and verifies all outgoing documents for sponsor compliance. She is also responsible for maintaining and referencing the grants archives and routing all internal grants forms. She has conducted electronic grants submission training and received a certificate of completion from OVPREA administration program. Ms. Johannessen comes to the ORS with a BA in English Literature from ASU with a focus on African American Literatures. Prior to her position at the ORS, she managed several free income tax assistance sites for low-income families in the Phoenix metro area.

Bethany Johannessen

As a grants specialist, Audrey Brockhaus collaborates with research faculty to organize, prepare and submit research grant applications in compliance with funding agency and ASU guidelines. She also assists faculty and staff in interpreting sponsoring agency guidelines and determining grant timelines. She reviews program announcements, conducts web and library research, and verifies all outgoing documents for sponsor compliance. In addition, Audrey is responsible for maintaining and referencing the grants archives and routing all internal grants forms.

grants budget specialist

Kristi Kappes works in partnership with members of the college's ORS team, the ASU Office of Research and Sponsored Projects Administration (ORSPA), and the local PIs to develop grant budgets that are in compliance with sponsor and ASU regulations. She also assists with several post-award functions, including payroll management, purchasing transactions, effort reporting, and budget modifications as needed. Ms. Kappes earned a BBA in Management from Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colorado and is currently pursuing a Masters of Education degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University. 

Krisit Kappes
Deb Fisher, Bs, Administrative Associate

Deb works with the ORS staff to facilitate the timely and quality submission of grant proposals. This includes collecting and updating notices of intent, scheduling investigator meetings, and setting up mock reviews. Deb is responsible for tracking and reporting grants activity from submission through award. She coordinates the research seminars sponsored by the ORS, administers the research assistantship tuition waiver process, and oversees updates of the ORS web site.
