The need for faculty geriatric expertise throughout Arizona and the Southwest region has stimulated formation of the Southwest Consortium for Geriatric Nursing Education, which includes the three Arizona state universities, Indian Health Service consultation, and Schools of Nursing from the surrounding Southwest states of Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Southwest Texas.
The consortium provides a network of nationally and internationally recognized faculty in geriatric nursing to mentor faculty learners across institutions through monthly seminars, a Visiting Scholar program, and consultation in grant preparation, and geriatric specialty consultation. Our efforts to develop and share resources related to course offerings are responsive to the geriatric substantive content expertise needed for the Western Institute of Nursing (WIN) NEXus program.
