The Education mission of the Center for Healthy Outcomes in Aging has included:
- An affiliation with the University of Arizona Center on Aging - Arizona Geriatric Education Center (AzGEC). The purpose of the U/A AzGEC is to improve interdisciplinary training of health professionals in geriatrics in Arizona.
- A comprehensive Geriatric Education Award that’s purpose is to:
- Improve the knowledge, skills, competencies and outcomes of healthcare professionals by developing partnerships with 3 acute care agencies and among three Centers to implement best practice models in geriatric nursing through continuing education and mentorship offerings;
- Improve the knowledge, skills, competencies and outcomes in best practices in geriatric nursing by developing a graduate course that contributes to knowledge and skills in best practices in geriatric nursing (Understanding and Applying Principles of Evidenced Based Practice) through a distance education strategies such as Web-enhanced education methodologies, and video streaming;
- Improve the knowledge, skills, competencies and outcomes of healthcare professionals by offering a series of Gerontology Public Health Seminars targeting cultural and health issues specific to Arizona’s older population.
