    Advanced Nursing Education Grant.  Distance Education for Public Health Nurses.”
    This grant focused on educating public health nurses through a dual degree MS/MPH program and distance education. Role: Primary Investigator
  • 2004-2005 HRSA-61-004-9686 $25,000
    Clinical Experiences in Federally –Funded Health Centers., Mountain Park Clinic. Phoenix, Arizona. Nurse Practitioner Training in the Chronic Care Model. This project provides nurse practitioner students with an immersion experience in a community base clinic serving a Hispanic community with high risk for Diabetes. Role:  Co-writer & Consultant.
  • 2003 Cultural Competency Turning Point, Training Grant  $7500
    Awarded to University of Arizona College of Public Health. This project provided cultural competency training to Public Health professionals in the State of Arizona. Trainers developed the curriculum and did 2 day workshops. Role:  Curriculum Development and Trainer (several trainers in project).
  • 2001 Sigma Theta Tau, Research Grant $500
    “Nurse Practitioner Use of CAM in Management of Psychosocial Symptoms in Patients with Alzheimer’s Disease.” The goal of this study was to test aromatherapy and the effect on Alzheimer patients’ behavior. Results supported growing evidence that aromatherapy use will reduce use of psychotropic drugs and psychosocial symptoms.
    Role:  PI.
  • 2000 Arizona Public Health Services, Education/Training Grant  $25,000
    “Asthma Best Practices for School Nurses.” This project provided state wide continuing education through development of an on-line course and distribution of teaching tool boxes to school nurses.  Use of the tools was piloted at several sites. Role:  PI.
