Understanding & Applying Principles of Evidence-based Care in Advanced Practice
This foundational course focuses on EBP process, discussion of uncertainty, reflection, science, evidence-based theory, clinical expertise and patient preferences roles in clinical decision making. There will be a 3-day onsite orientation to the EBP graduate certificate program in which students will begin to build a network of support for EBP initiatives. |

Generating Internal Evidence and Validating Application of Evidence through Outcomes Management
This course focuses on incorporating the EBP process in outcomes management. Emphasis will be placed on understanding principles of data measurement, collection, management and analysis. This course prepares students to address clinical issues by generating internal evidence, validating clinical practice and validating application of evidence through the use of continuous monitoring of data. In addition there will be an off-site (regional to participant) outcomes management clinical experience for the purpose of providing an opportunity for the student to work with an expert in outcomes to understand how ongoing management of clinical data influences best practice. |

Teaching Evidence-based Practice
This course prepares the practitioner to teach EBP in academic and clinical settings. Emphasis will be on behaviors expected in learners and how content, teaching methods and instructor bias influence these behaviors. |

Application of Principles of Mentorship for Change
toward Evidence-based Practice
This course will prepare students to implement EBP as evidence-based practice
mentors. Emphasis will be on implementation and mentorship principles. Course
content will be actualized in an off-site (regional to participant)
clinical experience incorporating principles of EBP, mentorship,
and change. |

Disseminating Evidence to Advance Best Practice in Healthcare and Health Policy
This culmination course focuses on putting all of the aspects of the graduate certificate in EBP together. Students will extend their understanding of how to move from evidence to action through implementation of evidence synthesis. Students also focus on use of evidence to foster health policy and systems outcomes improvement. Use of the media, dissemination of evidence, and shaping health policy will be emphasized. Students will engage in a professional networking experience provided via a 3-day immersion residency fellowship on-site at ASU College of Nursing & Healthcare Innovation. This will serve as the capstone experience for this program. |
