Abstract submissions are now being accepted for the 10th Annual EBP Conference Translation Research into Best Practice with Vulnerable Populations: Innovations in Evidence-Based Practice. This conference will provide opportunities to interact with colleagues as information is shared from clinicians across the country and the globe regarding the improvement of outcomes for patients and caregivers in innovative and ground-breaking ways.
Please consider submitting an abstract that showcases the wonderful and innovative work you are doing. The four specialty areas area:
- Acute/Critical Care
- Aging & Primary Care (new area this year)
- Children, Teens & Families
- EBP Implementation
Guidelines for Abstract Submission
Please indicate on the cover sheet the submission category, area of specialty, and method of presentation preferred.

Categories for Submission (Choose ONE)
- Moving Evidence to Action (i.e., works in progress that are applying evidence to practice)
- EBP Makes a Difference (i.e., completed projects with evaluation of applying evidence to practice)
- Evidence to Guide Practice (i.e., research that informs practice; outcomes management projects that generate internal evidence; evidence reviews [i.e., syntheses of bodies of evidence with guidance for practice change]; evidence-based clinical practice guidelines)
Consider the following in choosing a category
Moving from Evidence to Action:
- Significance of the problem, including the clinical question in PICOT format
- Search strategy and evidence found
- Critical appraisal and synthesis of the evidence
- Recommendations for best practice based upon the evidence
- Plan for implementing best evidence and progress to date, including
proposed outcome evaluation
EBP Makes a Difference:
- Significance of and purpose of the project, including clinical question in PICOT format
- Synthesis of Evidence leading to practice change
- Process of practice change
- Results of practice change, including all outcomes (e.g., cost)

Use the name of the primary author to create file names for your submission documents. If the same author is submitting more than one abstract add the number 1, 2, etc. to the end of the file name as necessary. Submit forms using the following file names:

- BlindCopy-LastName-FirstName
- Objectives-LastName-FirstName
- BioForm-LastName-FirstName
Please Note:
- Only electronic submissions using required forms will be considered for review.
- Incomplete abstract packets, incomplete forms or incorrect forms and formats will not be considered for review.
- Authors may submit more than one abstract, in more than one category and/or area of specialty.
- The abstract review committee may recommend acceptance of abstracts in an area of specialty or method of presentation different from what the abstract was submitted for.
- Symposium presentations are limited to 60 minutes; including Q&A.
- Podium presentations are limited to 20 minutes; including Q&A.
- Poster presenters must commit to being present at the conference to display their poster. No formal oral presentation is required for poster presentation.
- Handouts will not be provided. PowerPoint Presentations will not be recreated as handouts. Handouts are totally the responsibility of the presenter.
- Presenter's abstracts and handouts created from PowerPoint presentations will be copied to a CD in PDF format and provided to all conference participants. Actual PowerPoint presentations and hard copy handouts will not be provided. Hard copy handouts are the responsibility of the presenters.
- All accepted presenters are required to register for the conference and are responsible for the arrangements and cost of their transportation, lodging and meals not provided during the conference.
- Please take advantage of the early-bird registration rates – Early bird registration deadline is December 15, 2008.
- Abstracts are reproduced exactly as submitted. No editing will be provided.
*An orientation for first time presenters will be offered at the conference. Details will follow.
