I am enjoying a fantastic year as President of the ASU College of Nursing & Healthcare Innovation Alumni chapter as we celebrate 50 years. Our mission is to engage alumni members with the College, advance nursing education, promote networking opportunities with colleagues, and host social events for members.
This year’s 50th Anniversary celebrations provide a special time to rekindle connections and fulfill the mission. The College of Nursing opened on September 22, 1957, with 6 students and has graduated over 7,600 students to date. With over a year of planning, the 50th Anniversary for the College of Nursing, Light up the Night Homecoming Alumni Reception was held on October 19, 2007. The event featured tours of the downtown campus, presentation of memorabilia from past years by the board, silent auction to support our scholarship fund, and presentation of awards for: Distinguished Faculty, Jonna Anderson; Outstanding Alulmni, Gary Brown; and Outstanding Nurses, over 130 nurses nominated.
The celebration continues with the 50th Anniversary Gala Dinner to be held at the Arizona Biltmore on April 25, 2008. Save this date and look for more information on this website and future publications of ASU Nursing.
I want to thank everyone who supports the chapter with dedication and passion. I want to encourage those who have not been involved in events to become an active member. This is a fantastic way to maintain connections with alumni and the future of ASU CONHI. The Board of Directors is here to serve you, so please let us know if we can do anything to support you. I look forward to an outstanding year and want to hear from you.
